We have had lots of snow lately in Boston, school has been called off four days in the last two weeks and everyone is sick from being cooped up in close quarters. My sister's house has been hit especially hard, last week between the stomach flu and snow days no one went to school at all. One after the other the kids ,then the adults, got a nasty stomach bug . This week hasn't been much better Monday was a holiday , Tuesday was a snow day and today ,Friday, is another snow day In two weeks her kids have gone to school twice so they're all off schedule, rambunctious, bored and more than a a little crabby.
If that isn't bad enough Lilah has been up most of the night the last few nights . When I called to check in this morning my sister sounded like she was at the end of her rope . Usually I encourage the kids to be as loud and high spirited as possible (which is why my sister loves to see me pull up) but today I asked the older two to play together quietly for their mom. I think it worked because when I called a few minutes ago my sister sounded much better.
My sister has her hands full with 3 kids Grace, 6,John, 3,and Lilah, 2. They are easy kids , Lilah has developmental disabilities but she is delightful not whiny or demanding at all, Grace is as good as gold ,driven to please, kind and not at all demanding either. John is more demanding than the girls but still easily redirected and a pretty easy kid all in all. Still, I don't know how she does it all and manages to works 2 days a week too . I give her a hard time ( cause that's the way I roll) but i think she is an amazing mom. When we talk about Lilah's situation and she says she doesn't understand why her kid had to be born with special needs , I tell her it's because you guys can do it.
Here's hoping for good weather and good health and a little sleep would be good too!
